Face Ban Mian
From solitary coffee shop stall to almost a dozen locations scattered across the island plus its own central kitchen in Bedok North, Face Ban Mian (非板麺, est. 2012) by Food Face Group Pte Ltd has within 9 short years accrued a presence not to be sniffed at. Which thus provokes an irrepressibly legitimate curiosity - that surrounding whether the fare sold are anywhere near as remarkable as its growth story.
Alas, three anorexic noodle bowls and one lilliputian lu rou fan later we found ourselves incapable of answering in the affirmative; then again perhaps you might feel less equivocal noshing someplace else (apart from the possibly franchised outlet at Toa Payoh Lorong 1 stumbled upon for this review, that is).
What knocked our socks off:
We deemed the Original Dry Ban Mian fairly competent - thick, wheaty drapes, tender minced meat orbs and crispy anchovies when tumbled well with an underlying requisite hot sauce of sorts precipitated a certain je ne sais quoi.

The Taiwan Braised Pork Rice looked like some TGIF fecal special churned out by Club Diarrhoea, however it was anything but. No sir, this was the unholy trinity of greasy slick, decadent melty cum fatty sweet sluiced over slender white grains, all ready to emancipate you from the horrors of your perfunctory existence.
