Botak Cantonese Porridge

Botak Cantonese Porridge (renamed from Botak Delicacy) very much screams elysium insofar as the congee-loving demographic is concerned, this attributable to it pledging an entire dozen of zog permutations (erm, nevermind that odd lu rou fan entry though?) for perennially edacious hordes to hoover up. Second-generation hawker chick Lim Hwee Yi now steers the ship, having taken over from Daddy-O Ngoh Jook Guan who opened the original stall at Our Tampines Hub in 2016; a sibling outlet commenced business at One Punggol HC late last year.

Botak@OTH pegs away 7.30am-9pm daily except Wednesdays, while Botak@One Punggol does so 7am-9pm daily, likewise resting on Wednesdays. In any case, we crashed the former to get some hot, comforting loblolly down our systems.

Sampling and thoughts:

Century Egg With Lean Meat Porridge ($3.80) And Handmade Meatball Porridge ($3.30) - Nope, we can't discern which was which upon first glance. Could you?

Big-picture speaking, the two porridges (we) partook of succeeded considerably in pulling off an elaborate, almost Crystal Jade-worthy creaminess which was not lost on us. Taken individually, however, the Century Egg With Lean Meat Porridge brimmed full of flotsam and jetsam (read: pei dan knobs, spindly though unsinewy pork snips, crisp fried dough fritter bits), then again the Handmade Meatball Porridge after thorough fossicking turned up just 3 peewee ball bearings.

TLDR: Things went from pretty great to, well, pretty bald.
