Super Sushi

Super Sushi arrived sotto voce 18 June, tenanting a crack in a cranny at the basement of Tampines Mall. Its value proposition reads bone-simple: "Sushi Reimagined." - fleshed through downright aberrant, localized takes which see iconic favourites such as nasi lemak, mala chicken, chilli crab and dry laksa turned into familiarly fetching objets d'art (nevertheless, those preferring archetypal varieties à la California maki, grilled eel, shrimp, you know what else blabbity blah blah will be salved to learn they exist on the slate offered too). Only Niigata Koshihikari rice is used alongside pristinely fresh, halal-approved integrants, or so claimed.

Super Sushi opens daily from 11am-9pm.

Sampling and thoughts:

Both the Nasi Lemak and Soft-Shell Crab interpretations stood out particularly; the former edging within striking proximity of the actual dish organoleptically, the latter (sporting some substantial crustacean anatomy glossed with teriyaki reduction, tobiko sown over) managing a triptych of staccatoed hickoryness, fashionably brittle yet topside crunchy. Anyways, provided immediately below are our individual ratings assigned for items degustated during this little sushi-pedition:

Super vs unsuper, overall that's pretty much a toss-up for us.
