Real Food Grocer

True to its name, Real Food is serious about whipping up delectable, healthy fare with utmost love and care. It began life as a small humble cafe at the basement of Clarke Quay Central, this having since shifted elsewhere and expanded to multiple outlets islandwide. Typically frequented by diet-conscious folks who are willing to shell out a few more bucks to ensure they ingest the freshest and finest, Real Food serves a generous variety of rice and noodle dishes alongside specially concocted juices and shakes. Orders are placed via the front counter, where cutlery (plus assigned queue number) is subsequently issued to dine-in customers upon receipt of payment. Special requests to add condiments such as garlic and cheese, or indicating one's preference for a vegan alternative can also be communicated to the cashier.

What knocked our socks off:

The beet burger which featured a chunky patty assembled out of beetroot, carrots, millet and potato was a solid institution of tangy sweetness and satisfying crunchiness. The organic fried brown rice was equally delightful with its scrumptious grains and proficiently cultivated range of flavors arising from a thorough toss with pineapples, capsicum, french beans, black pepper and fresh corn.

Beet Burger ($13.80)

Organic Fried Brown Rice ($8.50)

What didn't work out:

The dumpling soup noodles missed the mark considerably; we encountered somewhat overcooked strips soaked in a dull broth while the prettily kneaded creations failed to impress. The pumpkin soup was essentially an enlarged puddle of blandness existing in a receptacle painted by a dash of what tasted like characteristically bitter Marmite.

Dumpling Soup Noodles ($11.80)

Pumpkin Soup ($10.50)

Other items sampled but turned out to be non-events:

Mushroom Noodles Dry ($8.50)

Potato Wedges ($8.50)

Organic Fried Noodles ($8.50)

Note: Prices subject to change without prior notice. Kindly clarify with restaurant before visiting or ordering.
