Sing Hi Fry
A vis-à-vis of sorts to under-the-radar lor mee meister Sing Hi Noodle (est. 2018, previously slumming it out at insular coffee shops in Bedok North and Jurong East, now an absolute troglodytic affair knitted within Toa Payoh Mall), Sing Hi Fry slinked onto the local street food scene (via Yen Fei Lai Eating House which sits conterminous with Hougang Avenue 5) 28 September, belching inestimable fried rice variations, Ipoh fried kway teow, fried Hokkien prawn noodle, fried this, fried that.
Sing Hi Fry operates daily from 10.30am-8pm.
What knocked our socks off:
Shrugging off a teensy allotment five bucks fetched, the Ipoh Fried Kway Teow was otherwise darn pukka, dovetailing absurd sooty-sweet with panoramic silkiness. Chances are, therefore, you may come away even more mortally satisfied devoting yourself to the larger $7 option.
Ipoh Fried Kway Teow ($5/$7)
Oddly enough, an also supposed "small" 5-dollar Fried Hokkien Prawn Noodle actually meant some bunyanesque, slovenly yet creamy cabal of yellow mein, vermicelli, prawns, squid, pork belly slices as well as lard croutons, foregrounded by near-exemplary wok hei. Commixed with the grenade-grade Penang sambal belacan supplied, it's demonstrably unalloyed shiokness to infinity and beyond.
